Urgent Kill- Lp „It’s ok to be kind” (Positive And Focused Records) 2025

Czekałem na ten album.
Bardzo.
Wytwórnia Positive And Focused Records z Niderlandów jest dziełem mojego barbersko-muzycznego przyjaciela Toni’ego. Co bardziej spostrzegawczy czytelnicy naszego fan page’a zauważyli pewnie, że widzieliśmy się kilkukrotnie na Jego barberskich włościach w Jan Piet Joris En Corneel.
Toni jest zarazem wokalistą straight edge bandu o nazwie Urgent Kill. Recenzja epki tego zespołu miała tu miejsce trzy lata temu, a oni sami są na składance „Jama & Friends 2”. Tyle wprowadzeniem, bo właśnie ukazał się ich pełnowymiarowy debiutancki album. Dla mnie rewelacja.
Razem z coverem ta płyta zawiera dziewięć prostych numerów, które wchodzą głęboko w głowę. Muzycznie od pierwszego numeru „Urgent Kill”, zespół wprowadza nas w doskonały nastrój, który towarzyszy nam przy odsłuchu całej płyty. Ten introdukcyjny numer jest zarazem najlepszym utworem na tym placku, bo jest manifestem mówiącym wszystko o tym co tu się wydarzy. Jest wzorcem metra, choć nie ma tego tempa towarzyszącego kolejnym nagraniom. Każdego z nich słucham z rozdziawioną gębą. Tak się kiedyś grało i tak się kiedyś śpiewało. Urgent Kill stworzył bombę atomową w każdej sekundzie, ale nie da się ukryć, że mimo zgrabnych riffów, świetnego brzmienia i porządnie skonstruowanych aranży to w dużej mierze zasługa charyzmy wokalisty, który zawładnął tymi kawałkami.
W trzecim utworze Toni’ego wspierają dwie dziewczyny. Jest to July z Tomar Control z Peru i Pauli z argentyńskiego XdistanteX. July odwiedziła i nas latem tego roku, a ich płyta wysoko plasuje się w odsłuchach w Jamie. Barber Straight Edge? Why not!
Słucham z przyjemnością, bo ta prostota głaszcze mnie po owłosionym sercu. Szybkość, dynamika, straight edge in your face w starym stylu, bez obcyndalania, ale też bez kompromisów i pytania kogoś o zdanie.
Trzy utwory znamy już z singla, ale są tu od nowa zagrane. Pięć jest totalnie nowych i dochodzi cover utworu „Straight outta hardcore” amerykańskiego bandu Good Clean Fun z dołożoną końcówką Toni’ego, która diabelnie wzrusza. Gościnne wokale dołożył tam sam Mr. Issa, wokalista G.C.F.
Należy posłuchać.
Jeśli lubisz Insted, Youth Of Today i wspomniane Good Clean Fun, a do tego Mainstrike i Sportswear- ten album jest dla Ciebie. Ogrom radości mimo ogromu złości. Nie jest łatwo te dwie emocje pogodzić, bo słychać, że swoje teksty Toni pisze pod wpływem przeżyć i zdarzeń oraz że jest delikatnie mówiąc niezadowolony z tego jak ludzie są źli dla innych ludzi. Ale wybrał konwencję pozytywnego hardcore’a, żeby o tym opowiedzieć światu i może przez to mniej boli...
Traktuję Go jak przyjaciela i bardzo Mu kibicuję w Jego projektach, ale przede wszystkim w zdrowiu, które zostało nadszarpnięte przez paskudną chorobę. Toni, pamiętaj, masz tu bliskich ludzi w Polsce!
Cudowna i wspaniała jest ta płyta. Powstała na kanwie własnych, trudnych doświadczeń, ale jest w tym wszystkim tak pozytywna, tak szczera i tak dobrze nastrajająca, że nie mogę się od niej oderwać.
Niebieski winyl, gatefold.

I was eagerly awaiting this album, and it has finally arrived.
The Dutch label Positive And Focused Records is the brainchild of my barber and musician friend, Toni. Observant readers of our fan page may have noticed that we’ve met several times at his barber shop, Jan Piet Joris En Corneel.
Toni is also the vocalist of a straight edge band called Urgent Kill. I reviewed the band’s EP three years ago, and they are featured on our compilation, “Jama & Friends 2.” Now, let's get into the details because the band's full-length debut album has just been released, and it’s nothing short of a revelation.
This album features nine straightforward tracks, along with a cover song, that stick in your head. From the very first track, “Urgent Kill,” the band puts us in a great mood, and that energy carries throughout the album. This introductory track is the standout song, serving as a manifesto that encapsulates what the rest of the album holds. While it isn't as fast-paced as the subsequent tracks, it is a benchmark for the album. I listen to each song in awe, as this is how straight edge hardcore bands used to play and sing back in the day. Urgent Kill has created an explosive experience in every second of their music. Despite the tight riffs, excellent sound, and well-constructed arrangements, the charisma of the vocalist truly shines through these tracks.
In the third track, Toni is joined by two female vocalists: July from Tomar Control in Peru and Pauli from the Argentinian band XdistanteX. July visited us last summer, and their album is a favorite in our barber shop playlist. Barber straight edge? Why not!
I savor listening to this record because its simplicity resonates deeply with me. It delivers speed, dynamics, and that classic straight edge sound without complications or compromises.
We already know three songs from the single, which are played here in a re-recorded version. Five tracks are entirely new, and there's a cover of “Straight Outta Hardcore” by the American band Good Clean Fun, featuring an added ending by Toni that is incredibly moving. Guest vocals are provided by Mr. Issa, the vocalist of G.C.F. It's well worth a listen.
If you enjoy bands like Insted, Youth Of Today, Good Clean Fun, Mainstrike, and Sportswear, this album is for you. It embodies joy amidst anger. Reconciling these two emotions isn't easy, but you can hear that Toni writes his lyrics based on his own experiences and observations. He is, to say the least, dissatisfied with how people treat one another. Yet he has chosen to express this through the lens of positive hardcore, which perhaps makes the message easier to digest.
I consider him a friend and wholeheartedly support his projects. I also want to remind him to take care of his health, which has been affected by a serious illness. Toni, remember that you have people who care about you here in Poland!
This album is fantastic and magnificent. It is rooted in his personal harrowing experiences, yet it remains so positive, sincere, and uplifting that I can’t pull myself away from it.
